July 15 We intend to target clubs for all activities and we have already attracted organising support for girls netball / archery & table tennis !!
Just been inputting the survey forms and there are some queries that need to be answered:
Q. Where is the Sports Hall going to be sited ?
A. Thats still to be decided, but we intend to have it 'attached' to the existing village hall ( or the 'cottage' ) so that we can make use of the existing facilities ( kitchens ).
Q. What about the existing Play Area ? it needs some new equipment.
A. One of the options for siting the Sports Hall that we are looking at , is to place it where the Play area is now .
( Longwise going out into the paddock - don't worry it won't encroach onto the football pitch ). We would then re-site the Play Area ( maybe on the paddock behind the existing large hall ). That would be the time to look at replacing and adding play equipment.
Q. Indoor cricket & Netball won't fit
A. Sorry, should have undated info , we have revised the size of the activity hall to accomodate three badminton courts and extra area to fit in these activities , as per sizes given on Sport England site.
Q. Will the hall encroach on the areas used by the school for running track and football?
A. No, if we align the new hall as we intend, the track & pitches should be unaffected.
THE LAST TIME WE UPDATED THIS SITE WAS DURING THE SURVEY PERIOD, AFTER WE HAD 150 HOUSEHOLDS RESPOND.
WELL THE SURVEY IS COMPLETE AND THERE ARE NO MORE RETURNS, SO NOW WE ARE PUBLISHING THE RESULTS.
WE RECEIVED 199 FORMS BACK, REPRESENTING 30% OF THE VILLAGE. A QUARTER OF THE FORMS DECLARED THAT THEY COULDN'T MAKE USE OF THE SPORTS HALL BUT SUPPORTED THE INITIATIVE ( USUALLY WITH SOME NICE POSITIVE COMMENTS). THE RESULTS ARE EXCELLENT AND SHOW THAT ON JUST THIS SAMPLE WE COULD HAVE THE HALL IN USE FULLY EVERY WEEKDAY. WE ALSO HAD 24 OFFERS OF HELP AND 5 QUALIFIED COACHES VOLUNTEERED TO HELP.
BUT WE HAVE ALSO BEEN BUSY ELSEWHERE..........
AT THE MEETING WE HAD IN JUNE WITH THE LOCAL SPORT ENGLAND MAN HE PUSHED US TO DO TWO THINGS 1. THE SURVEY AND 2. GET A MEETING WITH MALVERN PLANNERS. SO IN SEPT WE MET WITH 2 VERY HELPFUL GENTLEMEN FROM MHDC PLANNING DEPT WHO TOOK TIME TO LISTEN AND MAKE SOME VERY POSITIVE SUGGESTIONS ON HOW WE SHOULD PROCEED. AS A RESULT WE INTEND TO APPOINT AN ARCHITECT TO DEAL WITH ALL THE PLANNING ISSUES AS THEY ARISE. WE WANT TO HAVE A SHOWCASE DAY IN THE VILLAGE HALL WHERE EVERYONE CAN SEE ARTISTS IMPRESSIONS AND GENERAL LAYOUTS/FACILITIES, AND HAVE THEIR SAY, AND GET SOME ANSWERS. WE HAVE ALSO NOW ISSUED A 'LETTER OF INTENT' TO MHDC TO ENSURE THAT NO DECISIONS ARE MADE ON 106 MONIES WITH US BEING AWARE/INVOLVED.
WE HAVE ALSO MET WITH YOUR MP, HARRIET BALDWIN, TO ENLIST HER SUPPORT AND TO ASK IF SHE CAN HELP US MEET WITH SOME REAL DECISION MAKERS TO PRESENT OUR STRATEGY TO ACHIEVE THE MAXIMUM 'SPORT FOR ALL'. PLEASE KEEP UP YOUR SUPPORT.
